Fall Sermon Series (September 13-October 31 ): Good News for Anxious Christians
Being a Christian can sometimes feel like one more thing we are supposed to get right. Are we hearing God correctly? Following God’s will? Growing enough? Feeling enough joy? Doing enough?
But what if the Christian life is not supposed to make us more anxious? Inspired by Phillip Cary’s Good News for Anxious Christians, this sermon series explores some of the spiritual burdens we carry that Jesus never asked us to carry. Together, we will rediscover a faith rooted not in our ability to hear, feel, discern, or perform correctly, but in the good news of what God has already done for us in Jesus Christ.
The gospel is not one more thing you have to get right. It is the good news that, in Christ, God has already gotten hold of you.

his Sunday, we continue "Good News for Anxious Christians" with Paul’s invitation to “walk by the Spirit.” The Spirit-filled life is not a private spiritual achievement but a way of living that becomes visible in how we love, forgive, serve, and bear with one another. Paul calls this the “fruit of the Spirit,” and fruit, as anyone who has ever planted anything knows, takes time to grow. The good news is that our belonging to Christ does not depend on our progress; our progress begins with belonging to Christ.

This Sunday we begin our new sermon series, Good News for Anxious Christians, with a simple but freeing promise: God is not playing hide-and-seek with us. In Romans 10, Paul reminds us that faith comes from hearing, not from becoming experts at sorting through every feeling, hunch, or inner whisper. Come hear the good news that God has already spoken clearly in Jesus Christ, and that grace does not depend on how well we listen
