The Bible in One Year Want to read the Bible in one year? Have you started before, but starting at Genisis and reading it all the way through hasn't worked in the past? We want you to be able to enjoy reading the Bible in one year in a way that will be both spiritually fulfilling as well as convenient.
The Bible in a Year has teamed up with Bible Gateway to provide hassle free electronic readings that can be accessed either on Trinity's website, sent to you via email, added as a google gadget, or you can even print the entire month or year long reading calendar from their website at www.oneyearbibleonline.com.
The website also provides a blog that discusses each days readings. The blog will give both historical background of the readings as well as additional commentary to explain what the text meant in Biblical times as well as how it can be interpreted today. If you have any other questions about the readings, you can always contact Pastor Scott or Pastor Lisa.
Upper RoomTrinity is also dedicated to fulfilling your devotional needs as well! We know that only reading the Bible is not enough! The next time you stop by church whether it is on Sunday for worship or any other day of the week as you attend a meeting or go to choir practice, be sure to pick up the Upper Room. The Upper Room is a daily devotional guide that includes a short reading, prayer, thought of the day, and a focus for prayer. The Upper Room is available in a convenient "pocket size" as well as a large-print edition. These daily devotionals are delivered to the church every two months. You can pick up the newest editions on the first of January, March, May, July, September, and November. If you would like more information about the Upper Room you can visit their website at www.UpperRoom.org. If you would like Melissa, the Ministry Assistant, to set aside a copy of the most recent Upper Room for you, you can either call the church at 703-549-5500 or email Melissa at office@trinityalexandria.org.
Devozine
The Upper Room also pu
blishes a great youth devotional magazine called Devozine. What is especially unique about this devotional guide is that it is a made for teens and is written by teens! Each edition spotlights different teens and their stories that make them stand out. It is a great resource for teens that have common issues with school, family, and friends. Instead of having a seperate scripture reading for each day, there are different "chapters" in the magazine that are dedicated to different concerns that teens have. Each "teen concern" is then matched up with a true story from a teen and scripture that compliments the real life story! It is a great resource for both our young adults and their parents! For more information about this devotional resource, their website is www.devozine.org. Alive NowHave you read the Upper Room and it just didn't meet your spiritual needs? Do you like to grow with God in more of a non-traditional approach? If so, Alive Now would be a perfect fit for you! This themactic magazine still has scripture as the conerstone of their publication, but they also include art, music, poetry, and short stories to nourish your soul. There is still the traditional portion of daily scripture readings, but you will be able to see many different interpretations of the readings in multiple art forms. This magazine is also available every-other month following the same schedule as the Upper Room with new editions available on the first of January, March, May, July, September, and Novemeber. |
