Centering Prayer

The Contemplative Practice of Centering Prayer
Looking for a way to slow down and find a silent space in the midst of an over-programmed life? Looking for a way to refresh your prayer practice and draw closer to God? The early Christians realized the value of silence and just “being” in God’s presence.  As part of an ancient and honored Christian tradition of contemplative practice, centering prayer can be a great addition to other kinds of prayer that we experience when we bring our concerns and joys before God or praise God through prayer in worship.  Centering prayer is neither talking to God, nor is it listening to God.  Centering prayer is simply learning to be open to God's presence and action within through the practice of getting quiet and resting in interior silence.  Whether practiced alone or in a gathering, time spent each day in centering prayer can offer comfort, healing, and rest as we go about our daily living.

Centering Prayer gathers in the Sanctuary on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 - 7:00 pm.
